Which Crit'Air sticker does my vehicle get?

Crit'Air is decided by three things on your V5C: fuel, vehicle category and the date of first registration. The 8 tables below are the official bands for each combination — and they genuinely disagree with one another, so applying the car table to a van gives the wrong answer.

“Non classé” is not a loophole. A vehicle too old for the table gets no sticker at all, and a zone that admits Crit'Air 5 still bars it. It is the strictest outcome, not the absence of one.

Electric, hydrogen, LPG and plug-in hybrid do not depend on registration date: they take the green Crit'Air E or Crit'Air 1 sticker whatever their age. A self-charging hybrid is classified by its combustion engine, so it follows the petrol or diesel table above — we ask which rather than assume.

Where these tables come from

Transcribed from the official “Classification des véhicules en application des articles L. 318-1 et R. 318-2 du code de la route”, implementing the arrêté du 21 juin 2016 (JORFTEXT000032749723). Nothing on this page is inferred. The bands above are generated by calling the same classification function the route check and every city verdict use, so the table you are reading and the answer you get elsewhere cannot drift apart.
